On Cheongdam-dong, whenever you enter any Dermatology clinic, they all claim to be “the preferred choice of BYULs” or “top-tier anti-aging services”. After a while, it’s impossible to tell which ones are really genuine.
BAROG Dermatology in Seoul is one of the institutions that left a particularly deep impression on me. It’s not because it has the largest premises or the most advertisements, but because it follows a different approach: small in scale but high in quality, with the director personally attending to each patient without focusing on handling a large number of cases.

Who is the director of the hospital?
Dean Kim Hyun-ting holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Korea University. Such academic credentials are considered quite impressive among Dermatology doctors in South Korea. Korea University is one of the top three medical institutions in the country, and its graduates generally have no difficulty finding employment. The fact that Dr. Kim has chosen to open a small clinic and focus on providing high-quality medical care rather than seeking large patient volumes demonstrates his genuine commitment to the quality of patient care.
In the BAROG model, the chief physician personally conducts the consultations, rather than delegating the task to resident doctors or assistants. This feature is actually quite rare in the Cheongdam area – at many chain clinics, during peak hours, the doctor who actually performs the procedure is often not the same one you met during your initial consultation.
Introduction to Major Projects
Thermage FLX (5th generation)
BAROG features the fifth-generation FLX device. Compared to the fourth generation, the FLX model incorporates AccuREP sensing technology, which ensures more stable energy delivery and allows the treatment head to automatically adjust in response to skin feedback, thereby significantly enhancing overall comfort during treatment.
Suitable for: People with mild to moderate skin laxity who wish to improve the quality and firmness of their skin and do not want to go through a recovery period. The effects usually begin to become apparent 1–3 months after the treatment and last for 1–2 years.
HIFU therapy
It can reach the SMAS fascial layer, providing a more direct lifting effect than Thermage. It is particularly suitable for customers with obvious signs of sagging and whose facial contours have begun to become blurred. The pain level is higher than that of Thermage, so topical anesthetic can be applied before the treatment to reduce discomfort.
Sometimes, BARUNGYN will arrange a combination of Thermage and ultrasonic treatments based on the customer’s specific needs, addressing the skin from the dermis layer to the fascia layer, thus covering a more comprehensive range of anti-aging targets.
Onda microwave (Onda Coolwaves)
This treatment is relatively niche in the Dermatology field in South Korea, but BAROG is equipped to offer it. Onda uses microwave technology (rather than radiofrequency or ultrasound), which allows for more precise targeting of fat tissue. It is suitable for shaping the face and specific areas of the body, as well as for reducing mild fat accumulation.
It’s not a weight loss device, but it can help to improve the appearance of blurred jawlines and loose neck skin.
Titanium Lifting
Titanium Lifting is a new type of radiofrequency Lifting treatment that has emerged in high-end Dermatology clinics in South Korea in recent years. It is promoted as a “needle-free facelift” and proves to be particularly effective in addressing sagging Apple Zone and wrinkles around the mouth. With a short recovery period, it is ideal for patients with busy schedules.
Hydrofiller injections
For basic hydration treatments, BAROG mainly uses Filler and PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotides) for glow treatments. PDRN has an excellent reputation in terms of repairing the skin, brightening it, and reducing dullness. It is usually combined with other anti-aging treatments as an adjunctive care measure.
People who are suitable for undergoing treatments at BAROG
- If you want to offer popular anti-aging treatments such as Thermage or HIFU, it is required that the director personally performs the procedures instead of having assistants do it.
- Arranging your schedule in Cheongdam-dong makes it convenient to get consultation along the way.
- For the mid-to-high-end budget segment, there is a high acceptance of such boutique clinics.
- This is my first time going to South Korea for anti-aging treatments, so I would like to find a clinic where I can have in-depth consultations.
How to make an appointment
You can make reservations in advance through the BeautsGO platform, and Chinese-speaking customer service is available to assist you with communication, so you don’t have to worry about language barriers. It is recommended to book at least one week in advance before your trip, as the high-demand times at the Cheongdam-dong clinic are usually fully booked well in advance.
There are no shortage of clinics in Cheongdam-dong, but when it comes to those where the director personally conducts consultations, where the doctor holds a doctoral degree, and where the clinic is equipped with the combination of Thermage Fifth Generation, ultrasonic therapy, and Onda, the options are limited. If your budget falls within the mid-to-high range and you have specific requirements regarding the qualifications of the doctors, BAROG deserves to be included in your list of options to consider.
