Among the numerous plastic surgery clinics in Seoul, South Korea, choosing a reliable, service-oriented institution that offers aesthetically satisfactory breast augmentation procedures is a crucial decision for many patients. The author of this article personally consulted and visited four major Korean plastic surgery hospitals – ID, JK, Wonjin, and MD – and conducted a detailed comparison of these institutions across five key aspects: the professionalism of the doctors, the surgical techniques used, the post-operative care provided, the transparency of pricing, and the overall patient experience. In the end, I chose MD Plastic Surgery for my breast implant surgery and have documented in detail the entire process, from the pre-operative consultation to the recovery results and my personal feelings. The purpose of this article is to provide readers who are considering breast augmentation in Korea with firsthand information, helping them avoid misleading marketing tactics and make informed decisions.
In recent years, with the global spread of the “K-wave,” Korean plastic surgery techniques have gained international recognition. Especially in breast surgery, Korean dongdaemun doctors attract numerous patients from China, Southeast Asia, and even Europe and the United States thanks to their precise surgical techniques, natural aesthetic concepts, and highly personalized treatment plans. As a woman who has high standards when it comes to body proportions and strives for natural beauty, after six months of research and making several in-person consultations, I finally decided to undergo breast implant surgery in Korea.
However, faced with the numerous highly established clinics in Gangnam, Seoul – such as ID Plastic Surgery, JK Plastic Surgery, Wonjin Plastic Surgery, and MD Plastic Surgery – how can one make the right choice? Based on my personal experience, this article analyzes the pros and cons of these four hospitals for breast augmentation, focusing on why I chose MD Plastic Surgery and providing my actual feedback three months after the surgery.

I. Initial Screening: Basic Impressions of the Four Hospitals
1. ID Plastic Surgery
ID is well-known for its “celebrity-style” marketing strategies, featuring numerous before-and-after photos on its official website. The company specializes in all-in-one treatment packages that include procedures such as nose augmentation, eye enlargement, lip enhancement, and breast augmentation. Its breast augmentation services aim to create “full, Western-style breasts,” ideal for patients who desire prominent curves.
However, during my consultation, I noticed that the dongdaemun doctors were more focused on selling high-end implants such as Motiva, and paid less attention to individual patient conditions, skin elasticity, and other relevant factors. Furthermore, the waiting lists for ID are extremely long; popular doctors usually require patients to make reservations 2–3 months in advance.
2. JK Plastic Surgery
JK has a strong presence in the Asian market, offering comprehensive services in Chinese and a dedicated international patient center. It provides three different incision methods for breast augmentation: underarm, periareolar, and inframammary fold. Doctors recommend the most suitable approach based on the patient’s occupation, such as dancers or models.
However, some online reviews point out discrepancies between the promises made before the procedure and the actual results after the operation, in addition to unstable pricing and the risk of hidden costs.
3. Wonjin Plastic Surgery
Wonjin is renowned for its “naturally looking” results, emphasizing a “natural-born” breast shape and avoiding any excessive exaggeration in the results achieved. The director personally performs these breast surgeries, paying close attention to details such as the position of the nipples and the curvature of the lower breast area.
However, Wonjin offers a limited range of implant brands, primarily collaborating with Natrelle and Mentor – options that may not meet the needs of patients seeking the latest technological advancements (such as smart implants). Additionally, its post-operative follow-up system is inadequate, with international patients reporting difficulties in contacting the staff after surgery.
4. MD Plastic Surgery
Although MD is less visible on social media compared to the other three brands, it enjoys a strong local reputation in Korea, especially for its approach of “precise measurement + personalized design.” Its breast treatment team consists of three senior female doctors who specialize in developing customized treatment plans for Asian women with flat chests and thin skin.
MD does not pursue the so-called “internet-famous breasts”; instead, it emphasizes “dynamic naturalness” – a beauty that remains harmonious whether a person is standing, lying down, or moving around. This really impressed me.

II. In-Depth Comparison: Five Core Dimensions
1. Professionalism of Doctors and Their Consultation Experience
- ID: Doctors speak quickly, prioritizing efficiency; consultations usually last around 15 minutes, and they rely heavily on pre-established treatment plans.
- JK: Doctors are patient with their patients, but they tend to recommend expensive treatment packages, which seems to be a form of up-selling.
- Wonjin: The director provides personal consultations and is very professional; however, language barriers (due to the use of translators) limit the detailed level of communication.
- MD: The consultation lasts for 40 minutes. Doctors use 3D simulations combined with manual measurements (such as chest width, distance between nipples, skin elasticity, etc.) and hand-drawn sketches to explain the appropriate placement of implants (under the glandular tissue or under the muscle). There is no pressure to make a purchase; the doctor simply asks, “What appearance do you want to achieve?”
Key point: The dongdaemun doctors at MD’s not only focus on the size of the breasts but also on whether they suit the patient’s body shape.
2. Surgical Techniques and Implant Options
All four of them offer silicone breast implants, but the details vary significantly.
| hospital | Main implant brands | Options for Incisions | Endoscopy | Implant Fitting Procedure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ID | Motiva | armpit | Yes | Yes (only standard sizes available). |
| JK | Mentor / Natrelle | All three of them | Yes | Yes (custom fitting). |
| Wonjin | Natrelle | Periareolar / Inframammary area | No. | No. |
| MD | Motiva + Sebbin | All three of them | Standard endoscopy | 3D virtual + physical fitting |
MD places strong emphasis on the endoscope-assisted dual-plane technique, which reduces bleeding, enables precise dissection of the surgical site, and lowers the risk of capsular contracture. MD also offers the French Sebbin implant (which is relatively rare in China); its micro-textured surface enhances tissue adhesion, making it ideal for Asian patients with thin skin.
3. Price Transparency
- ID: The base price is approximately 8 million KRW (≈42,000 RMB). With the Motiva Ergonomix option, the total cost rises to over 12 million KRW; additional fees apply for anesthesia and hospitalization services.
- JK: The quoted price ranges from 7.5 to 11 million KRW, plus an additional 100,000 KRW for “international service fees.”
- Wonjin: The fee is 9.5 million KRW, including all expenses, but no changes to the brand of the implants are allowed.
- MD: Here is the detailed breakdown: the implant costs 6 million Sebbin, the surgery costs 2.5 million, the anesthesia costs 800,000, and the 2-night hospital stay costs 700,000. In total, it amounts to 10 million KRW (approximately 53,000 RMB), with no hidden fees.
4. Post-operative Warranty and Follow-up Care
MD offers a 5-year warranty for the implant plus lifetime free check-ups. In addition, a dedicated post-operative support group is available, with daily follow-ups by nurses. Scheduled check-ups are conducted on Days 1, 3, and 7, and patients are also entitled to a free lymphatic massage voucher to help reduce swelling.
In comparison, ID and JK primarily rely on patients to take the initiative to initiate contact, while Wonjin lacks a systematic tracking mechanism.
5. Overall Service Experience
MD’s International Center employs nurses who speak Chinese, and provides comprehensive support ranging from airport pick-up to translation services during the post-operative period. The clinic is quiet and private, devoid of any sense of a “assembly-line” style of service. However, ID and JK are often very busy, which can result in longer waiting times and weaker privacy protections.

III. My SWOMAN Breast Augmentation Experience: From the Consultation to the Recovery Period
Consultation Day (Day 0)
After arriving in Seoul, MD sent a car to pick me up. Dr. Kim (a female doctor) carefully recorded my height (162 cm), weight (48 kg), bra size (A-), occupation (office worker), and my goal (to achieve a C cup breast size in a natural way, without any artificial procedures).
After the measurements, she said, “Your chest is relatively narrow; increasing its size too much would risk causing a ‘double bubble’ deformity. I recommend using 275 centum core round high-profile implants, placed in a dual-plane configuration.”
I then viewed the expected results through 3D simulations and also tried actual implants. With a volume of 275 centum core, the visual effect was approximately equivalent to a C cup size. However, Dr. Kim frankly advised me, “It might look a bit too high in the first week, but it will soften and settle naturally after one month.” Her honesty really reassured me.
Surgery Day (Day 1)
The surgery was performed through an incision under the arm, with endoscopic assistance for dual-plane implantation; the entire procedure took 2 hours. I didn’t feel any pain during the anesthesia and woke up in the ward. The nurses monitored my blood pressure and temperature every hour and helped me put on a medical support bra.
That night, only light food was allowed. The discomfort felt like “sore muscles after intense exercise” and could be relieved by taking oral painkillers.
Postoperative Recovery
- Day 3: The bandages were removed, and a medical bra was worn instead. There is mild bruising, but no significant swelling.
- Day 7: Suture removal (the scar under the arm is concealed and virtually invisible). The doctor confirmed that the implant was placed in the correct center and there was no hematoma.
- Day 30: The breasts begin to soften and feel more natural in texture. Light yoga is permitted at this stage.
- Day 90: It looks completely natural! The breasts spread out gently when lying down and appear fuller when standing. My colleagues didn’t even notice that I had had the surgery; they just said, “Have you gained weight? Your breasts look even better now.”

IV. Why I Finally Chose MD?
Overall, MD emerged victorious in these areas:
- No templates: Does not blindly pursue a specific size; customization is based on actual body measurements.
- Solid technical approach: Endoscopy combined with dual-plane imaging as the standard configuration; no additional fees for any upgrades.
- Comprehensive service: From pick-up at the airport to follow-up monitoring for 3 months after the procedure.
- Transparent pricing: No hidden costs, offering better value than ID/JK.
- Matching aesthetics: Emphasizes “dynamic naturalness” that suits Asian women.
Of course, MD is not perfect – it has limited exposure on social media, which might initially give people the impression that it is not trustworthy. But precisely for this reason, MD focuses on medical quality, rather than online traffic.
Breast augmentation is not simply about “inserting an implant”; it is a comprehensive process that involves anatomy, materials, aesthetics, and even psychology. Among JK, Wonjin, and MD, I did not choose the most well-known brand. Instead, I chose the one that understood me best.
Three months after the surgery, when I look in the mirror, I am truly grateful for my decision. The procedure not only gave me a C cup breast size, but it also restored my confidence and provided me with greater comfort.
If you are considering breast augmentation in Korea, please set aside the influence of “internet celebrity standards.” Visit various clinics and judge them based on their professionalism and attention to detail. Choose a doctor who truly customizes treatment plans for you, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach.
On the journey towards beauty, choice is far more important than effort. May every patient discover their own “MD moment”.
